There’s not much to say about the August entry in the calendar – I’ll let the picture speak for itself.

The calendar image was captured on the lower slopes of Japan’s highest peak and it foreshadows the tragic events that were about to unfold on the upper reaches of the Eiger.

Michal, I’m sure you’re still out there somewhere – in another dimension – dreaming in those clouds that sparked the imagination and influenced countless mountaineers.

Although it has been 2 years since your passing, the framed photo I keep on the wall above my study serves as constant reminder that your legacy will never be forgotten.

When I need an extra dose of inspiration, I pore over your words like a faithful disciple and stream your video channel for glimpses of places I only dream to explore.
